ADHD and relationships

Usually, it’s a good thing to know you’re not alone.  However, yesterday I found out how that’s not always the case.  Take, for example, ADHD people and relationships.  Yesterday alone, I read two blogs by ADHD people about problems within their relationships.  I only read three or four people’s blogs yesterday, so that’s a pretty high percentage.

What is it about ADHD that seems to make relationships so damn difficult? (more…)

This one isn’t real easy to write.  You see, today, I want to talk about how important it is to have folks that are in your corner while you’re battling ADHD, and I mean really in your corner.  You see, we ADHDers can’t do it alone.  Trying to expect us to do it alone is tantamount to expecting a blind man to see.  Our brains won’t work like a normal persons brain, despite how much we really wish it would.  At least, that’s been my experience.

People like me need a lot of understanding.  We’re kind of screwed up after all. (more…)

So, I’m almost 40 years old, so why am I now writing about ADHD?  Well, it’s kind of a long story.

Mostly, it’s because I need to vent a bit about what I’m dealing with.  You see, my ADHD – more specifically, my inability thus far to deal with it – has really made life interesting for me. (Define interesting?  Oh God, oh God, we’re all going to die.)  It’s lead to me destroying friendships that I valued deeply.  It’s lead me to losing jobs aplenty.  It’s also lead to me being a fairly untrustworthy sort.  Yeah, I’ve managed to let everyone around me down.
